چکیده

Since its founding, NASA has been dedicated to the advancement of aeronautics and space science. The NASA Scientific and Technical Information (STI) Program Office plays a key part in helping NASA maintain this important role. The NASA STI Program Office is operated by Langley Research Center, the lead center for NASAÕs scientific and technical information. The NASA STI Program Office provides access to the NASA STI Database, the largest collection of aeronautical and space science STI in the world. The Program Office is also NASAÕs institutional mechanism for disseminating the results of its research and development activities. These results are published by NASA in the NASA STI Report Series, which includes the following report types: · TECHNICAL PUBLICATION. Reports of completed research or a major significant phase of research that present the results of NASA programs and include extensive data or theoretical analysis. Includes compilations of significant scientific and technical data and information deemed to be of continuing reference value. NASA counterpart of peer-reviewed formal professional papers, but having less stringent limitations on manuscript length and extent of graphic presentations. · TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM. Scientific and technical findings that are preliminary or of specialized interest, e.g., quick release reports, working papers, and bibliographies that contain minimal annotation. Does not contain extensive analysis. · CONTRACTOR REPORT. Scientific and technical findings by NASA-sponsored contractors and grantees. · CONFERENCE PUBLICATION. Collected papers from scientific and technical conferences, symposia, seminars, or other meetings sponsored or co-sponsored by NASA. · TECHNICAL TRANSLATION. English-language translations of foreign scientific and technical material pertinent to NASAÕs mission. Specialized services that complement the STI Program OfficeÕs diverse offerings include creating custom thesauri, building customized databases, organizing and publishing research results ... even providing videos.

Experimental Study on Double-Walled Copper and Carbon/Epoxy Composite Tubes under the Axial Loading

This paper investigates axial compression process of multi-layered tubes with circular cross-section under the axial loading in the quasi-static condition using experimental method. Some specimens are prepared in seven different groups, namely; empty carbon/epoxy composite tubes, solid carbon/epoxy composite rods, empty copper tubes, composite tubes with silicon sealant filler, concentrically s...

‌Progressive Damage Analysis of Laminated Composites using Continuum Damage Mechanics

In this paper, progressive damage and global failure of composite laminates under quasi-static, monotonic loading are investigated using 3D continuum damage mechanics. For this purpose, a finite element program has been developed using an eight-node 2D layered element including layer-wise plate theory. Damage analysis of a single orthotropic layer under various uniform in-plane and transverse l...

Correlation of Dent Depth to Maximum Contact Force and Damage of Composite Laminates

A major concern affecting the efficient use of carbon fibre reinforced composite laminates in the aerospace industry is the low velocity impact damage which may be introduced accidentally during manufacture, operation or maintenance of the composite structures. It is widely reported that the contact behavior of composite laminates under low-velocity impact can be obtained under quasi-static loa...

Effect of Impact Load on the Bond between Steel and CFRP Laminate

Carbon fiber reinforced polymers strengthen steel structural elements. These structural elements are normally subjected to static, dynamic and fatigue loadings during their life-time. CFRP laminate is commonly used structures under the subjected loads. A number of focused on the characteristics of CFRP sheets members under static, dynamic and fatigue loadings. is a gap in understanding the bond...

Contact Behaviour of Composite Laminate under Quasi-Static Indentation Load

A viable solution to the ever-demanding weight-saving target in aerospace industry is the replacement of conventional engineering alloys with composite materials in primary structures. A major concern to the effective use of composite laminates is the substantial reduction in the compressive strength when the contact force has exceeded the delamination threshold load (DTL). This paper focuses o...

Characterization of Indentation Damage on Carbon/epoxy Laminates by Means of Acoustic Emission

Static indentation tests on carbon fibre reinforced laminates have been frequently used in literature to predict the value of penetration energy for the laminate. The mechanical set-up most commonly employed involves the use of indentors of diameter comparable with that of the impactors prescribed from standards for falling weight impact, such as ASTM D3763.The specimen is simply supported usin...
